Preservation Capen advocates need to raise $650,000 to save the house. This will cover the cost of cutting it in half and floating it down the river. They have until October 1, 2013 to raise the $650,000. So far they've raised $200,000. However, only $200,000 more is required to actually save the house and move it; the remainder of the funds will be dedicated to placing the house on its new permanent site at Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens and renovating it for public use.
The rally, co-hosted by the popular Facebook page I LUV WinterPark, will include a children’s coloring station and games, music by the Gazebros, and inspiring words from local community members about how we can re-use the historic house and launch it across Lake Osceola to safety on the grounds of the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens. Volunteers will be on hand to answer questions about the house move and collect donations for the project.
