Samuel Barber liked Sydney and Louise

Samuel Barber

Sydney and Louise retired to Orlando in 1940. Their nephew was Samuel Barber, a famous composer.

He liked Sydney and Louise.

In 1945, to honor their 50th Wedding Anniversary, he composed a brief "musical greeting" called, creatively, “Tribute to Sydney and Louise Homer.” It was performed for the first time that same year in Orlando, with Virginia Giguere Roose in the chorus, and never again.

Wanna hear that "musical greeting"?

Wanna see how much Samuel Barber liked Sydney and Louise?

Wanna see what Virginia Giguere Roose looks like today?
