Art exhibit: “Matriarch”

Exhibit
The exhibit will feature "the differing complexions and complexities associated with our impressions of what the word matriarchs embraces...through each stroke of color, each placement of tile, each warm photograph" according to Terry Cook, President of the Women’s Caucus for Art Florida. It was juried by Patricia Rodriquez, renowned juror, muralist and the curator of San Francisco's Mission Cultural Center For Latino Arts.
Judith Segall, exhibition chairperson, noted “Each piece reflects an individual aspect of the subject with the powerful use of different mediums; each artwork is unique in its personal portrayal of what makes women shine."
Opening Reception
The opening reception includes the presentation of 2007 Florida Achievement Awards by famed Orlando artist Dorothy Gillespie, past recipient of National Lifetime Award. WCAFL's 2007 Honorees are Dr. Kristen Congdon and Dr. Kyra Belan. The reception includes music by the jazz ensemble "The Other Side" with saxophonist Lea MacQuarrie.
