Dr. P. Phillips Orlando Performing Arts Center unveiling

The Dr. P. Phillips Orlando Performing Arts Center is having a free public community unveiling of it's finalized design Friday, August 22, 2008, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 455 S. Orange Avenue, the future site of the performing arts center. It's also the site where the “Round Building” across from Orlando City Hall sits. This is the building Nils M. Schweizer Fellows and Central Florida Modern are holding a design competition around, attempting to save the precast concrete brise soleil (the white cement criss-cross stuff at the base of the building) from demolition.

Mayors Dyer and Crotty, the Center’s board of directors and internationally renowned design team will be performing in a commemoration ceremony from 10- 10:30 a.m., followed by design tours until 1 p.m.
