Steal this idea: East Meets West

I got sent a press release for an event in South Florida I thought was worth mentioning because it's (a) creative and (b) copyable. Why is it creative? It gives a believable, concrete reason and backstory for an art lover to visit not one, but two galleries, in two different cities in South Florida. There's an "event" feel to it. And how is it copyable? I could see theatres doing this: Mad Cow Theatre does "The Matchmaker" (which they are, soon) and Orlando Shakespeare Theatre does "Hello Dolly" at the same time. Or one could do "Les Meiserables" and the other could do (when the rights are available) "A Tale of Two Cities." There's an event aspect, and it gets you to go to not one, but two productions. It's like the $99 "Real Orlando" deal, but with creativity. And if audiences see both, they get something, a gift of some sort. A discount to each theatre's next offering maybe. Anyways, here's the release:

Worlds collide next Thursday the 23rd, 6-10pm, with Ferrari Gallery and daas Gallery joining together to explore the balance of opposing forces via works from opposite ends of the light spectrum in an exhibit called "East Meets West."

In the West, at Ferrari Gallery in Cape Coral, guests will be enlightened by predominately white and light artwork, lifting and stretching their spirits. In the East, at the daas Gallery in Fort Myers, they will be submerged into the deep souls of the artists when viewing the predominately black and dark artwork.

Start at either gallery to receive your "East Meets West" passport, get it stamped at each venue and enter the passport to win original artwork by David Acevedo and Veron Ennis (the event's curator)
