If you want to wade knee-deep all things Etsy/handmade/local/yarn-a-rific, you must not miss this event. Every year this event smacks me in the face with creativity. Go.
On Sunday, December 21st, from 10am to sunset, Grandma Party will be hosting its sixth artisan bazaar at Stardust Video and Coffee, 1842 E. Winter Park Rd., Orlando.

Over 40 local arts and crafters, musicians and independent businesses will transform the parking lot in front of Stardust Video and Coffee into a DIY (Do-It-Yourself) extravaganza at the Grandma Party Bazaar. The event will feature work from local fashion designers, glass blowers, bookbinders, painters, knitters, silversmiths, vintage dealers, bakers and printmakers as well as a portrait studio, custom songs written and recorded while you wait and chair massage. WPRK 91.5 FM presents live music throughout the day. Local artist Doug Rhodehamel will create a special installation piece for the event.

Bands performing throughout the day include: The Ocean Floor, The Pauses, Dark Sea of Awareness, Fireflies, Skeleton Warrior, the Triscults, Attached Hands, Basements of Florida, and more.

Grandma Party
had its first bazaar in December 2005 as a way for local crafters to show and sell their work, meet other crafters in the area, and have a party. It also provided an alternative avenue for holiday shoppers trying to get away from rampant corporate consumerism and instead put their purchasing power back into the community. Since then Grandma Party has grown steadily more and more successful while staying true these goals.

All proceeds from the Bazaar go directly back to the artists.
And, I will say this a second time. A partnership between Orlando Fringe's "The Green" and Grandma Party would benefit the Fringe, Grandma Party and Orlandoeans. Fringe would get actual interesting merch, Grandma would be able to introduce itself to a whole new audience (of 50,000!) and Orlandoeans would be all "Damn his is cool as hell!"
