Ignite Orlando: March 4

Ignite, now a national phenom, was started in Seattle in 2006. It's a local event paid for by sponsors and organized by volunteers with two aspects that make it unique: (a) several five-minute presentations given by volunteer speakers on the topic of their choice and (b) a "Make" project contest. The concept has spread to cities like New York City, Denver, Boston and now, Orlando.

Ignite Orlando might remind you of Pecha Kucha, a similar event held in Jacksonville at which Orlando's Brian Feldman and Ryan Price presented.

More info:
5 Minute Presentations
Volunteer speakers are given five minutes to present on any topic they wish. They can rant, educate or just share. They're limited to 20 slides with which to accent their presentation that automatically rotate every 15 seconds. The speakers are picked by the Ignite Orlando planning staff and come from submissions generated by the Ignite Orlando website.

Make Project Contest
A contest lasting 20 minutes where contestants are broken into small teams to compete as a team. The winning team will receive a prize. The contest will be announced the night of the event.
If you missed the planning meeting, don't miss the first Ignite Orlando Wednesday, March 4, 2009, 6-10pm at Slingapours at Wall Street Plaza in downtown Orlando (27 Wall Street Plaza Orlando, FL 32801).

When we talk about wanting creativity, community, the sharing of ideas and inspiration, this is an event that has the potential to bring those things out in us. Submit an idea. Pass this link on in an email. Attend it.
