On Sunday, January 25th, Orlando Writers Workshops kicked off the first in a series of themed, intensive workshops with a day of writing, great food and laughter. The nine participants enjoyed writing on the front porch of the Maitland Garden Club, a cozy cottage and historic local site.

Published writer and experienced teacher, Vanessa Blakeslee, will share a powerful writing lesson and exercise from an award-winning Vermont College faculty member and writing mentor that forever transformed her understanding of the short story form and her own short story craft; her stories catapulted from plot-meandering to resonating, published works in less than a year.

"Great energy and great writing arose from the specially-selected Amherst Writers & Artists method exercises. Adding to the creative atmosphere was plenty of sunshine, Lake Lily Park with the Farmer's Market nearby, as well as chef-prepared meals and snacks throughout the day.
