Auditions for six children ensemble roles for the Orlando performances of the national tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will be held at Dr. Phillips High School Performing Arts School (6500 Turkey Lake Road, Orlando 32819) on March 26 at 5:00PM. (If you get in, say hello to ELLIE MOONEY for me! She asst. directed me in the national tour of I Love a Piano.)Auditioning children are to arrive no later than 5:30PM accompanied by a parent or guardian to sign-up for the audition. Auditions will begin promptly at 6:00PM and only the first 150 children will be allowed to audition. Each child will be asked to sing a cappella 16 bars from one up-tempo song of choice. Children should be prepared to learn and execute simple choreography as part of the audition process. No decisions will be announced at any time during the auditions.
Six children will be selected for the ensemble, and they will appear as orphans in Act 2 of every performance. Two alternates will also be chosen. Approximate ages should be between 8 and 12 years old – and have the appearance of children, NOT young adults. Children must be no taller than 4’10. Professional experience and headshots are not required.
The local children cast in the production and their parents or guardians will be provided rehearsal and performance information. The children will not receive any compensation, however this is a wonderful opportunity for children from (city) to perform onstage with professional actors without having to ever leave town.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will play The Carr Performing Arts Centre April 14 – 19, 2009. The performance schedule will be as follows: Tuesday, April 14 through Sunday, April 19, 2009 with evening performances at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, a Saturday matinee at 2:00 p.m., a Sunday matinee at 1:00 p.m., and a Sunday evening performance at 6:30 p.m.
