Groups:
B Side Artists

Buy Local Orlando
This is not a genuine movement and should be called out publicly. They co-opted a name for a different use. I hope this campaign is handed to locals eventually.

Downtown Arts District
They do Third Thursdays at City Arts Factory among other things

Downtown Development Board
They got a new website (love it), pay an marketing company to run their twitter feed (umm...) and they're responsible for the "Whats Up Downtown" events, which are a sight to behold.

Florida Creatives
This is a genuine grassroots movement started by Ryan Price three years ago. Its got an informative blog and a monthly meetup.

Main Street Program
This national effort at creating neighborhoods has taken off in Orlando: Mills 50, Audubon Par and I think downtown. Milk District couldn't afford the fees, from what I understand. Now because of this effort, every hood has a farmers market and some monthly "event" that combines shopping and entertainment. I feel like each hood should name themselves, but these efforts are positive move. More info

People:
Jessica Earley
She produced and curated Blunder Bungle, did all the curating for the first ever Audience Choice Awards and taught two guys how to knit at Stardust. I saw it with my own eyes. We introduced her to readers here almost a year ago.

Brian Feldman
He ate everything off the menu and ruined the 4th of July for me and continues to dazzle almost weekly with new ideas and events.

Patrick Greene
Pat produces Florida Quarterly Noise Report which integrates experimental sounds/music and art. He puts together a lot of the events and creative things at stardust and does installation work and performance art.

Doug Rhodehamel
He's done shows at Juicy Temples, made RS21 tiny and is known as the mushroom guy to some/most/all/no one but me.

Thomas Thorspecken
Thor organizes Orlando Sketch Crawl and Orlando Artists and Writers Crawl and does a sketch a day.
