TheDailyCity.com is announcing a new initiative called "TheDailyCity.com Helps," where we bring you a business or person who needs help and we give them as much press/PR as our little blog can so (a) you know about them and (b) the mainstream press can give them wider exposure to a larger audience. The credit for this idea (and for the video editing) goes 100% to Dan Ginader.

At its core, the shop is a farmers market available to you seven days a week. Forget waiting until Saturday or Sunday to buy your local peppers: they've got them every day. And 80% of the fruits, vegetables, grass-fed beef, eggs and bread are grown/created in Central Florida. Much of the produce is grown and harvested weekly by the store's owners.
We featured the shop July 31, 2009 and now in January 2010, they've fallen on hard times. The owners are not sure they will last the coming months due to a drop in shoppers and income. We feel this market is a benefit to the community and we're partnering with local groups to do what we can to help this shop. We'll be announcing our partners and our plan soon.
For now...
1. Please visit the shop at 120 N. 4th Street in Lake Mary, FL and buy some produce. Five readers already have! On Monday of this week, five readers visited the shop and made large purchases. Thank you! Lets raise that number to ten!
2. If you own a restaurant that serves fresh local food, visit the market and try their food for a week. If you like it, make them your source for local food.
3. Go to their five dollar all-you-can-eat chili fest this Saturday, January 16, 2010, 3pm until...
4. If you want to help us help them, please send us an email and let us know how you can help.
