February 11, 2010 Canadian singer songwriter Valerie Anne Poxleitner aka LIGHTS (based on the second syllable in her last name) describes her music as “intergalactic-electro.” She says the sounds seem like they could have been plucked from Saturn's rings or a meteor belt, equal parts fantastical/epic/beautiful/emotional.

That was apparent during her February 5, 2010 performance at House of Blues in Orlando. Alternating from keyboard to "keytar," she commanded the stage while boucing around from toe to toe. There was a surprising number of fans there for her; the meet and greet line after the show was over an hour long.

Her synth pop sound set a nice tone for the headliners, Owl City. I really enjoyed her live performance but after listening to her CD I will admit I was disappointed: her soft voice sounds edited to the point of sounding like a different person.

She has true talent and this free spirit quality about her and I am very happy that my first time hearing her sing was live and natural and not edited with auto tune.
