Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will work alongside 125 local ARAMARK volunteers March 23, 2010 at 10:30 am at Community Food & Outreach Center (150 W. Michigan St., Orlando, FL 32806) and lead the Community Food and Outreach Center’s “Day of Hope” to provide food, clothing and other critical human services to those struggling in Central Florida.
Mayor Dyer, with local volunteers, will kick off the “Day of Hope” and hand out emergency food boxes supplied by Universal Studios Orlando. Volunteers will also help families sign up for other programs such as Food Stamps, Medicaid and Florida Kidcare in the Community Food and Outreach Center’s Crisis Relief Center.
Volunteers will work on campus beautification and improvement projects, focused on improving the atmosphere and visibility of this outreach center: outdoor signage and murals, landscaping, bike racks, clothing distribution areas, and a nutritional food corner in the hunger relief center.
Citizens interested in volunteering or donating opportunities, please contact the City of Orlando Office of Community Affairs at 407.246.2500.
The Community Food and Outreach Center provides food and hope to those in need in Central Florida. They do this by helping struggling families with a hand up to get their basic needs met, connecting those in crisis with the resources and tools needed to get back on their feet and prevent homelessness, and providing the training and skills necessary to help our neighbors get employment opportunities, achieve their dreams, and regain hope for their lives.
