By Jeremy Seghers | Raphsodic Cooperative Company doesn't sound like the name of a vegan bakery, but I'm sure owner & executive patry chef Katie Mosher would beg to differ. Sure, the little unassuming store front right next door to Dong-A Imports sells everything from handmade jewelry to greeting cards, but their main draw will undoubtedly be the vegan (no animal bi-products) baked goods. March 1, 2010 was the official opening of "Orlando's only urban pastry art house" and featured free samples, a massage chair and live music by Tam Tam, Jesse Willard & Jeff Ilgenfritz from Mumpsy.

Oh, and did I mention they had free samples?! I tried the Savory Irish Soda Bread, Everything But The Kitchen Sink Cookies and Aztec Chocolate Cake which were all awesome. But the Chinese Five Spice Brownies took home the prize as my new addiction, so I took a few home. Apparently, they had more items earlier in the day but couldn't bake them fast enough to keep them in stock by the time I got there (about 6:30 PM). So be sure to go early and often!

About the Shop:

"Specializing in 100% vegan, 100% cruelty- and animal testing-free products and services, there is no dairy, no milk, and no cholesterol in anything; they are better for the environment, and they kick the posteriors of non-vegan desserts by at least 350%. So go and see for yourself, nothing tastes like cardboard (we promise), and we bet you’ll say these are better than their animal-riddled cousins, hands down, any day of the week!

Walk into the shop and find: scrumptious cakes, delectable cupcakes, lip-smacking cookies, gooey brownies, yummy bars, sexy mini tarts, and scrumdiddleumptious pies that line the bakery cases. We only use all natural awesome ingredients and make everything from scratch daily, so you can rest assured there are no boxed mixes or packaged icings or anything that resembles an artificial ingredient and we aim to keep it that way!"
