Harvey Milk Festival: On May 22, 2010, cities across the nation will celebrate Harvey Milk Day. Sarasota, Florida is proud to become a part of this tradition by holding the official Harvey Milk Festival in downtown's Rosemary District. We will celebrate this special day with an all-day festival featuring guest speakers, live music, art and theatre. Our aim is to raise awareness about Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) rights and legislation on both state, and federal levels, as well as urge everyone to take action. We will also be honoring the life and work of a man who has become an icon for equality. A candle vigil will be held after dusk to connect the events happening coast to coast. Please come and support this noble and important cause. All net proceeds from this year's festival will benefit 'ALSO Out Youth'
