“Studio Six” debuts at Creative Spirit Gallery

Creative Spirit Art Gallery and The Arts Hub will host an opening reception for “Students of the Maitland Art Center,” an exhibition featuring paintings by students from the Maitland Art Center Friday, May 14, 2010, 6-9pm at Creative Spirit Art Gallery (820 Lake Baldwin Lane, Orlando, FL)
“The Maitland Art Center’s fine art instruction program is turning out exciting and talented student work,” said curator Brad Biggs, “and the students of instructor Kaye Callaway are showing their own accomplishments as a result of the classes they have taken. The collaborative nature of these works is what makes them interesting.”
With a Master’s of Fine Arts from East Tennessee University, Kaye Callaway has over 22 years of teaching experience and has worked as an artist professionally throughout her career, accepting commissions and winning competitions. As a member of the Art Center’s faculty, she has contributed to the instruction of many talented students in the Central Florida area.

The Maitland Art Center, founded in 1937 as “The Research Studio” by artist and architect Andre Smith, continues today as a not-for-profit art and research center, with classes in all mediums and active community involvement by both faculty and staff. The Center itself is a unique architectural campus on the National Register of Historic Places and may be visited at 231 W. Packwood Avenue or at www.maitlandartcenter.org
