Cocktails & Cosmos is Saturday, June 19 from 6-10pm at the Orlando Science Center. Ride the monstrous waves of Tahiti during Orlando Science Center’s Cocktails & Cosmos on Saturday, June 19! From 6 to 10 p.m., the event will feature live entertainment and the premiere of The Ultimate Wave Tahiti on the giant screen of the Dr. Phillips CineDome. Indulge in Downtown Orlando’s most scientifically unique and socially inclined experience with Happy Hour food and drink specials, followed by an evening of live music, art, and film.

The Ultimate Wave Tahiti features Florida’s own Kelly Slater on a quest to find the perfect wave. Taking viewers on a journey to the scenic beaches of Tahiti, the film simultaneously exemplifies the contrasting concepts of surfing as a competitive sport and an ancient Polynesian wave-riding art. Directed by Stephen Low, one of the foremost filmmakers in the giant screen industry, The Ultimate Wave Tahiti puts viewers alongside Slater and Tahitian surfing legend Raiman Van Bastolaer as they crush the killer waves of the South Pacific.

The film will screen at 7 and 9 p.m. Prior to the film premiere, guests can enjoy a scenic view of the Orlando skyline from atop the Science Center's SunTrust terrace with Happy Hour drink specials from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Full service cash bars and light hors d’oeuvres will be provided by Aloha Catering while guests enjoy the distinctive sounds and music presented by DJ Dizzlephunk.

During the event, guests will also be treated to the unique artistic vision of Painter Jeremy Lombardo. His work emerges from the deepest part of his consciousness, which makes these raw images both a dark journey and a celebration of human potential. Get connected with the island rhythms by participating in an active drum circle or engage in the ancient art of Henna design.

Following the film premiere, guests can venture to the top of the Science Center for stargazing in the Crosby Observatory through the largest publicly accessible refractor telescope in the state or return to the Cinedome at 10 p.m. for the Pink Floyd laser light show. Tickets to the event are $13 and will include admission to the premiere screenings, performances, and laser light show. Admission is free for Science Center members.
