Carbon Productions, LLC is putting on the non-musical version of Spring Awakening: A Children's Tragedy by Frank Wedekind, directed by Jeremy Seghers, June 25 & 26 at 8pm, June 27 at 3pm at the Black Box Theater at Vibe Studios (6100 Hanging Moss Rd, Suite 570, Orlando, FL 32807). The play, which was the source material for the hit Broadway musical of the same name, was written in 1891, but was immediately banned due its frank depiction of sexuality.

The story revolves around a group of teens in Germany who explore and, ultimately, must come to terms with their own growing desires. Featuring a new translation by award-winning novelist Jonathan Franzen, Spring Awakening is as relevant and provocative today as it was a hundred years ago.

The sets are being designed by local visual artist Rick Jones. See photos from his solo art show Deep Field.
