RED BULL EMSEE: THE ROAD TO 8 MILE HEADS TO ORLANDO: Freestyle Rap Battle will send Florida’s Best Emcee to Finals in Detroit Judged by Eminem
Red Bull EmSee: The Road to 8 Mile is a freestyle rap battle of sight and sound, driven and spearheaded by the freestyle master himself, Eminem. The national series will make its stop in Orlando on Thursday, July 29 at The Social (54 North Orange Avenue, Orlando Thursday, July 29, 2010). 9:00pm – Doors Open. 18 and up, free and open to the public.
Florida’s top lyricists will compete head-to-head for the title of best emcee in O-Town. This invitation-only competition has a unique format that challenges the rapper to bring their game face to the chopping block and take it back to basics.
Emcees will not only battle against each other but also the clock and their mind’s eye when they are tested to create the sickest flows they can with on-the-spot based spontaneous cues. (Include a rhyme about our Taco Truck Taste Test and we will be forever grateful!) In this elimination style competition, the emcees will be judged based on three rounds, each with different challenges. In the first round, emcees will be tested on their versatility and speed as they’re given five images at random to base their freestyles on. The winners from that round will have to keep on their toes for round two as they’ll rap about themes that are texted in by the judges and the live audience to a screen. And the two who prove themselves above the rest and make it to the final round, will go head-to-head in a tradition freestyle battle.
The competitors: High Collide, Johnny Storm, Rugged, Isaac Folch, Strife, Surgeon General,
LMS, Alex Minor
“I’m looking for somebody to stand out, to be unique and to say the sickest, mostridiculous, most retarded s#%! you can say, something that makes somebody want to quit,” explained Eminem.
The three rounds will be judged by Swamburger, Drect, and Brother Ali. And lending their talents to the Red Bull Emsee stage are hosts D.R.E.S tha BEATnik and Madd Illz.
