Gallery Watch: Neon Forest Launches Against The Grain Independent Film Night

Against The Grain Independent Film Night, a new monthly film series, starts Friday, July 30, 2010, 7:00pm - 11:00pm at NEON FOREST Gallery (1741 S Orange Avenue, Orlando, FL)

Beginning July 30th 2010, the NEON FOREST Gallery will open its doors, on a monthly basis, to host a new Independent Film Night titled ATG (AGAINST THE GRAIN). ATG will feature films and film makers from around central Florida showcasing their short films, music video's and documentaries.

Each night will feature up to 5 short films over the course of 4 hours. There will be regular intermissions between each film, some Q&A with the film makers, a DJ, a bar and a ton of great art and film!

Opening night will begin with a viewing of “Human Traffic King” a Documentary Directed by Kevin Harrington. The screening will start at 7:00pm sharp. The documentary is a look at the lives of professional sign spinners who live and breathe human advertisement. This documentary will make you take a dive headfirst into a world unknown to most.

Following the first screening, there will be a viewing of “ Rose Bleed #9” Directed by Taylor Hoeft, a short experimental film with a unique portrayal of death. The use of vivid colors and abstract images help make this a true film against the grain.

Additionally, “Consciousness”, directed by Stephen Kinigopoulos, will provide some insight on religion by utilizing nostalgic imagery in representing two opposing beliefs.

Opening night festivities continue with a light party type atmosphere in between films with some cocktails and hor dourves

Our Final showcase before we screen Luke Thorpes feature film “Sound of Waves” we will screen two Music videos by local Director Alex Purifoy. “It’s Alive – Pieces” and a surprise release.

We will be ending the evening with a feature film “Sound of Waves” by a Jacksonville local filmmaker Luke Thorpe. This Film gives an in depth view of the lifestyle of surfing and how it coincides with music. A must see film for everyone!

This installment of ATG is FREE and open to the public, however you must RSVP due to limited seating and capacity., confirming your attendance on here is the same as an RSVP for us.

The ATG Independent Film Night provides an environment for artists to engage and network with a diverse cultural and regional community. The night is a tribute to the artists and business community that encompasses the innovation, diversity and uniqueness of movie-making. Held in the up and coming SODO District of South Downtown Orlando and centralized on Orange Avenue just south of Downtown Orlando at 1741 S.Orange Ave Orlando Fl 32806, it is an event that energizes the area, industry, and community.
