Opening Reception for Chris Beck and Kimberly Clayton Show

Chris Beck and Kimberly Clayton's "Distilled to the Essence" is having its opening reception Friday September 10, 2010, 6pm-9pm at Jeanine Taylor Folk Art (211 E. 1st St., Historic Downtown Sanford, 407-323-2774). Free. The show will run through Oct. 1, 2010

With a nod to the art of found objects, Chris Beck and Kim Clayton both use cast off elements to create artwork with an iconic Southern flavor. Clayton, from Myrtle Beach, SC, uses salvaged vintage elements in her paintings on wood panels. She often uses materials that she’s found while combing the Southern beaches near her home. Beck, from Chattanooga, TN, works in salvaged steel that he welds and paints to resemble clothing. His party frocks, bell-bottom jeans, and Polo shirts become dimensional wall hangings.
