Sept 7, 2010 | The frozen yogurt scene in Orlando just got a new member: Chilly Spoons. And did you know its LOCAL? I spoke with Chris and ben Kozlowski, the two owners, Tuesday night. They explained to me that Chilly Spoons may appear to have the same look and feel of a national franchise, but the business was created by these two Orlando locals and has, for now anyways, just one location. Eventually they would like to franchise their Orlando-born creation, but for now, they're planning for a September 11, 2010 grand opening of the first store and keeping it at that.
I took the opportunity to ask the two why they thought the "froyo craze" was happening. Their answer makes sense: its a less expensive, but just as fun, alternative to higher priced non-yogurt ice cream shops. Families want desert, a fun place to eat it in and a small price tage.
