There's Black Friday, Cyber Monday and now American Express, the credit card many most small businesses won't accept from consumers due to its high fees placed on them by AmEx, has launched the first-ever Small Business Saturday for November 27, 2010. It's billed as "one day to support the small businesses that are getting our economy going again." They provide four reasons to support small businesses, some ways small businesses can help promote the day and a list of who is supporting the "movement."
This is just my opinion, but while the idea of a "Small Business Saturday" as a stand alone idea is great, much like Orlando's fake Buy Local program, it should be done by the local businesses themselves, not some outside entity like a city government or credit card company. Source
