As the year comes to an end, the pickings for TWIG get slimmer and slimmer. If there’s something happening that you’re excited about, why not mention it in the comments section?

The Black Keys at House of Blues

It’s been a great year for the Black Keys: their album ‘Brothers’ went top three on the Billboard charts, they’ve played to huge audiences both in the States and overseas, and their terrific ‘Tighten Up’ video won them a VMA. Of course, MTV printed the wrong band name on their actual award, but it’s the thought that counts, right? The band will be bringing its brand of blues-rock to the HOB and it’ll be a triumphant, high-energy show. They’ve been around for ages, are at the peak of their live powers, and have built up a very respectable fan base. If I weren’t going to Tampa to see Superchunk and Titus Andronicus, I’d be there in an instant.

Misfits at Firestone Live

Even if Glenn Danzig has not had anything to do with the band for years, it’s still pretty cool to get dressed up as a monster and go to see Jerry Only and the current Misfits tear through ‘Die Die My Darling’, ‘Horror Business’ and the rest. They’re known to play upwards of thirty songs per set, so nobody can complain about being short-changed. Wear only black clothes, cut your hair into a Devilock, and let the original masters show you how it’s done.

Attack! Attack! at Firestone Live

I honestly don’t know anything about Attack Attack! other than what I read last year on WFMU’s Beware of the Blog. The post, describing the mythical sub-genre known as “crab-core” is one of the funniest things I’ve read on a music blog. Will the show be any good? I don’t know. Probably not. But teenagers love it!
