Yelp Orlando Brings Non Profits and Potential Volunteers Together in One Room With Booze

Yelp Orlando's Colleen Burns appeared on Episode #3 of "The Daily City
With Mark Baratelli" to talk with us about "Yelp Helps." WATCH NOW

Yelp Orlando, the site with audience-written reviews on everything from dog walkers to food truck taste tests to art shows, is matching you up with your ideal non profit organization at Yelp Helps tonight, Friday November 5, 2010, 6pm-8pm at the Orlando Science Center. RSVP required.

A bunch of non profits will be on hand all in one room available to speak with you about their org and how you can volunteer with them. If you've been wanting to volunteer around town but haven't because you're lazy like me, waiting for them all to be in one place so I don't have to google my fingers off, nows your chance!

The groups will have reps to speak with, information to hand out and of course, chances to join in the volunteering fun. Here are some of the participating non profits: One Brick Orlando, Ourlando, Relay For Life, Brightside Events, A Gift For Teaching, Pet Rescue by Judy, Mel's Bad Girls Club, Orlando Science Center, Stand Up For Kids Orlando, The Dream Center Orlando, Florida School of Holistic Living, The Power Promise Organization, Global Hope Network International, The Mustard Seed of Central Florida, Arts and Cultural Alliance of Central Florida, Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF.

Yelp Orlando is going an extra step and making this event FUN with free drinks, snacks and more from Honest Tes, Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka, VnC Cocktails, Infusion Tea, Chocolate Provovaeur, Funky Monkey Wine Company, Bananas, A Modern American Diner, Sprinkles Custom Cakes and (our favorite) The Bees Knees Sweet Treats.

There will also be live beats by DJ A-Rock, live painting by Steph Wood, live stand-up comedy by Mike Charette and Mark "Jiggy" Jigarjian and some "treats" (their word not mine) from Fresh Med Spa.

Also, as a special treat for the straight ladies and gay men present, Peter Murphy, Orlando's most attractive human being, will be broadcasting live with his show, Orlando Live.
