A Christmas Carol By Any Non-Wanzie Name is Not the Same, Nor As Hilarious

If a show has Big Bird in the curtain call, you know its good. Or absurd. Or both. In the case of Michael Wanzie’s original piece "Wanzie's Glittering Star-Studded A Christmas Carol: A Dickens-Inspired Celebrity Cavalcade Holiday Spectacle!" it was both. The show plays the Parliament House (410 N. Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando, Florida 32805) for its final performance December 18, 2010. Among the nine productions of "A Christmas Carol" playing Orlando in 2010, I'm sure this is the most insane. Local comedic actors portraying celebrities portraying characters from "Carol." It was hilarious, ridiculous, offensive and awesome. I loved it. Catch it December 18, 2010 before it closes. Get tickets here. Below are photos. -Mark

Characters Rip Taylor Lucille Ball dance along with playwright Wanzie

Tiny Tim as played by Liza Minelli and Bob Cratchit as played by Marlie Matlin and somehow Joan Crawford makes an appearance. I forget how, but it was funny as hell.

Scrooge is played by Carol Channing

The ghost of Christmas past shows Scrooge (Carol Channing) his mistake in letting Belle, played by Miss Piggy, slip away from him in his youth. Note the Ninja puppeteer.

About:
Imagine Michael Wanzie narrating A CHRISTMAS CAROL while all the STARS of the show (some living, some dead) all inappropriate in manner and dress refuse to completely divest themselves of their Hollywood and Broadway personas as they attempt to embody the characters created by Charles Dickens. The audience is treated to a one-of-kind on stage debacle when one of the advertised headliners is a no show and a New York casting agency sends in a fading Broadway legend as a last minute replacement who arrive just as the curtain rises on this most unusual adaptation of A Christmas Carol.

Cast:
Carol Lee, Doug Ba’aser (Did you see his roast?), Miss Sammy, Gidget Galore
