The Festival of Chocolate is having a film competition, open to the greater Orlando film community, film students and aspiring filmmakers, called "Chocolate Covered Fairytales." Deadline: February 14, 2011 February 21, 2011 (Updated 1-24-11). Top 5 Finalists will be screened March 5 & 6 at the festival, which takes place at Orlando Science Center (777 East Princeton Street, Orlando 32803). Submissions, completed applications, waivers and entry fees must all be mailed to The Festival of Chocolate Film Competition, 5966 Lakehurst Drive, Orlando, 32819. Film Entry Fee: $30.
Filmmakers entering the competition should create a unique “chocolate” twist on a classic fairytale or develop an original fairytale story with a “chocolate” spin. All films submitted will be judged first by film and entertainment judges from the University of Central Florida and the Festival of Chocolate producers who will decide on the top five. These finalists will be screened by guests during the Festival of Chocolate. They will name the “fan favorite.” The top five filmmakers will receive (2) tickets to the Festival of Chocolate so they can attend the event during these screenings. The film selected “fan favorite” will receive $500 and a prize pack provided by partners of the UCF Film Department
Screenings of the Top 5 films in the competition will be included with admission to the Festival of Chocolate as part of regular admission to the Orlando Science Center, which is $17 for adults, $12 for kids (ages 3-11).
