Leu Gardens (1920 N. Forest Ave., Orlando, FL 32803) hosted its final camelia show Saturday and Sunday, January 15 - 16, 2011, from 9am-5pm. The Camellia Society of Central Florida will move its annual celebration of the camellia from Leu Gardens to Mead Gardens in Winter Park January 12, 2012.
On Sunday, the mood in the large airy hall full of black-wrapped tables covered in flower-filled bottles was chipper and light. Small gaggles of flower lovers hovered, stared and admired the hundreds of camellias on display. Every now and then, one of the organizers would make an announcement that he was about to give a talk on various topics such as how to make your flowers bloom sooner and which flowers on which tables were grown with fertilizers.
