The Art Stroll of Ivanhoe Village
6pm - 9pm
1600 block of N. Orange Ave., Orlando, FL
The Ivanhoe Village Main Street & the Arts Hub Florida present The Art Stroll of Ivanhoe Village. This event will be on N. Orange Avenue, between Virginia and New Hampshire, from 6pm until 9pm. It is free and open to the public. "This is the New Year’s First Friday Art Stroll for Ivanhoe Village,” stated Brad Biggs of The ArtsHub. “The event continues to bring Central Florida’s emerging and accomplished artists together on the busy sidewalks along N. Orange Avenue, and will feature live music and Capoeira dance by local talent.” ArtsHub’s Jason Lee added, “ Each month one deserving artist will be awarded the Austin Arts Hub Scholarship to pay for their booth space.” The Arts Hub is pleased to highlight artist Gene Amoroso, a plein air landscape artist living in Orlando. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, Amoroso took a hiatus from painting and returned to it in the fall of 2008, vigorously redefining his style as “expressionistic naturalism.” Counting Van Gogh, Monet, and Cezanne among his influences, Amoroso interprets the special quality of light found along Florida’s Atlantic coastline.

"Home Brewed" Art Opening featuring Tic Bowen, Bill Tarpley, & Doug Woods
Twelve 21 Gallery, 1221-C N. Orange Ave., Orlando, FL
(Runs till Feb. 11, 2011) Come enjoy some intriguing works by some of the best underground Orlando artists Tic Bowen, Bill Tarpley, and Doug Woods. Each artist brings to the show a wondrous translation of our surroundings using a variety of media. Tic invents delightful mazes built of moving parts assembled with intricate characters which are somehow both innocent and cunning. Bill's small and large acrylic paintings are populated by creatures that are richly rendered and appear to hold humanistic expressions. Doug's compelling images deal with reaction; reactions to others, reactions to self, reactions to the viewer; created with saturated ink and vibrant watercolor. We will have wine provided by Tim's down below, frosty keg beer, and tasty treats to support your drinking and eating habits.

Sweet Ups
7pm - 12am
Neon Forest Gallery, Orlando, FL
Art Exhibition Featuring Tatiana Suarez & Plinio Pinto. No Cover. All Ages. Tatiana Suarez is a Brooklyn-based Miami native. Her charming style is distinctive -- first, the trademark eyes that draw the viewer into a beautiful and surreal world. Suarez takes full advantage of the oil paint's ability to create creamy, soft images on canvas. Rich with symbols that stem from her Brazilian and El Salvadorian heritage, subjects appear as if they are under water, frozen in lovely stillness. The doe-eyed figures look childlike, but also exude sexual overtones, ornamented with plants, insects and other unsettling accompaniments. Beauty is presented concurrently with exotic -- even creepy -- creatures to create enchanted narratives. Plinio Pinto is a Freelance illustrator/graphic artist based in FL with a BFA in illustration from Ringling College of Art and Design. His recent clients include the Sci-fi Channel's GhostHunter, TAPS Paramagazine, Playboy Enterprises, Inc., The Dallas Observer, Financial Executive Magazine and a collaboration on the recently released book "The Hamptons Dictionary". A Native of Brazil Plinio currently lives and works in Orlando Florida.
