Underoath, Thursday, A Skylit Drive and Animals as Leaders all performed on Saturday, Feb. 26 at the House of Blues. If you don’t know, Underoath and Thursday are hardcore/screamo bands, A Skylit Drive is a post-hardcore band and Animals as Leaders is an all-instrumental progressive-metal band. All the bands are extremely talented and I was absolutely thrilled to be at the show. Throughout the show, there was moshing, head banging and crazy amounts of adrenaline. All in all, it was a great night of music. Saturday’s show was the second to the last stop on the Underoath/ Thursday nationwide tour which ended last Sunday in Fort Lauderdale.
Below is my interview with the lead singer of A Skylit Drive, Jag after the band’s set.
A Skylit Drive is from Londi, California and is comprised of vocalist Micheal “Jag” Jagmin, guitarists Nick Miller and Joey Wilson, bass player and screamer Brian White, drummer Cory La Quay and keyboardist Kyle Simmons. The band has toured with bands like Senses Fail and Chiodos and performed at Bamboozle and 2009 Vans Warped Tour. A Skylit Drive will be touring again in the summer on the 2011 Vans Warped Tour. A Skylit Drive just released their newest and third full-length album “Identity on Fire” this month and I’ve listened to the whole album already. “Identity on Fire” consists of great, liberating songs with a great combination of singing and screaming vocals, instrumentals and catchy choruses. My favorite songs are Ex Marks The Spot, Too Little Too Late, XO Skeleton, Conscience Is Not A Killer, Fuck The System and Your Mistake.
