Orlando Ballet Battle of the Sexes II 2011

The Orlando Ballet brings back its powerhouse show "Battle of the Sexes II" February 11-13, 2011 at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre. Tickets start at $15. Call 407-426-1739 or visit orlandoballet.org for tickets.

About the show: Provocative, bold, sensual movements showcasing the company’s proven edgier side. Pulsating rhythms and sizzling choreography by Artistic Director Robert Hill. Musical selections Gotan Project (a Parisian music group), Dead Can Dance (world music group) and songs from the films "The Red Violin" and "Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day."

Artistic Director Robert Hill called on two former Orlando Ballet dancers to perform and choreograph numbers for the production: Israel Rodriguez in “If I Didn’t Care," choreographed by Hill and the piece “Compliance," choreographed by Marshall Ellis for the Orlando Ballet/Cirque du Soleil collaboration November 2010.

“Last year’s performance was the first of its kind for the company and we set a tone for how we will present contemporary performances to the community,” said Hill. “We aim to draw in new audiences and intrigue our patrons with a blend of classical ballet with a sexy twist! Our audience loved it last year, so we plan to get them back on the edge of their seats again this year.”
