This morning we got invited to view a few minutes of "load-in" for the national tour of Wicked, opening at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre this week and running for the next five.
Load-in is the term used for the time when a national tour brings their set into a theatre and constructs it. As we took photos and filmed video, we had to stay clear of folks carrying in giant metal pieces, step over bundles of thick wires and cords and weave our way around rolling boxes full of who knows what. Very exciting.
Also exciting was seeing two friendly faces working on the tour! One of the local carpenters, JT, walked up and said hello. We worked on the national tour of "I Love a Piano" together, along with his wife, who worked on costumes. And then out of nowhere walks Kevin, one of the two Wicked stage managers. He was the stage manager for "I Love a Piano." I love a reunion!
