National Empanada Day is April 8, 2011. Thank God we are here to tell you such things. One restaurant (that we know of) is celebrating this terribly important day by serving dollar empanadas 5pm - 6:30pm. That restaurant is Cuba Libre (9101 International Drive, Orlando, FL 32819). The restaurant will be serving "Mama Amelia’s Empanadas" which come in the following variations:
1. Picadillo a la Cubana with ground beef, olives and raisins
2. De la Casa with hand-chopped chicken, corn, sweet peppers and jack cheese
3. Cataluna with shrimp, creamy spinach and pine nuts.
4. De Campo with pulled pork, roasted poblano and charred tomatoes.
