An undead plague has struck Central Florida and at the current rate of infection, a full zombie takeover is anticipated on October 1, 2011. Audubon Park's unofficial mayor, Kat Quast, has ordered the mandatory transport of all infected individuals to the Audubon Park Garden District for quarantine. The civil rights group, People for the Ethical Treatment of Zombies (PETZ), will be onsite from 6pm-midnight on October 1, 2011 to ensure that the district's normal Oktoberfest festivities will be conducted safely and humanely. Since this event will incorporate our newly zombified citizens, this event has been rebranded as “Zombietoberfest 2011”.
There will be live musical performances from local bands; Jane Jane Pollock, Light House Music, Loud Valley, Michael Parallax, Road Kill Ghost Choir, Introduction to Sunshine, Fever, ATTIC, Maximino, Slough Louris, Howling Owls, Drew Yardis, Alias Punch, Yogurt Smoothness, Thats Black, The Oak Hill Drifters, Chopper Stepe, and DJ's Zaylien, Phoenix Jagger, and Frankasaurus Fresh. Peter Michael Perceval III of thedropp.com, in partnership with North Avenue Studios and Parafora Presents, are in charge of booking and scheduling this year's lineup. Since some of the musicians are looking rather dead, be sure not to stand too close to the stage. The Audubon Park Garden District always recommends taking caution in dealing with zombies and urges the undead to partake in beer rather than brains.
Attendees brave enough to watch will be pleasantly frightened by a free outdoor screening of back-to-back bone-chilling horror classics presented by Enzian, the official sponsor of Zombietoberfest’s Graveyard Theater. Featuring a massive screen, surround sound and a professional projection, this roadshow’s official film lineup will be announced in late September. Mother Falcon will showcase their annual zombie art show in Bold Hype's old space (next to Stardust) and will have an after party in their new bar, The Falcon, in Thornton Park. A horror-themed art will also be hosted in Stardust, curated by Miriam Ruckert. Josh Nye, of the monthly Video Dept. series, will be spinning records in Stardust as Courtney Matzke pours spooky drink specials at the bar.
Vendors can submit their applications before September 15th when the early deadline ends and the price rises.
