I got the chance to take a look at this years Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios.

Over all a fun night for the Halloween lover: a chance to leave the kids behind and enjoy a little "scare therapy"! Halloween Horror Nights opens September 23 and runs selected nights through October 31st. Tickets range in price.
This is a pretty intense event so it's suggested for 13 years and older. Keep in mind there are no children's tickets and there are no refunds
.

A few pointers:

* Leave your heels, platforms and I'd even say flip flops at home. Wear comfortable, non slip shoes. Not only is it a lot of walking if you try to cover all 8 houses and 6 scare zones but most of the house have some kind of water effect. Some have uneven and sometimes textured floors making it easy to trip.

*Don't worry about fixing your hair. There's stuff falling from the ceiling every where, be it acid rain, snow or other fluids. So even if it's not humid outside which hello, it's Florida, you stand a chance of getting wet.

* It might not be bad to bring your cell phone to use as light. Some of the lines are really dark and hard to navigate. I would bet that most of it will be fixed by opening but you never know. Plus you can check out the new HHN21 phone app:

This year, guests can enhance their experience at Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 21 with the first-ever official mobile application specifically designed for the event. Available as a free download for iPhone and Android users, the app offers an array of useful features to help attendees plan a terrifying and entertaining night they’ll never forget.
The all-new Halloween Horror Nights 21 mobile app will allow guests to:
o Pinpoint their exact location and the terrors that surround them using GPS navigation
o Plan which haunted houses they’ll dare to enter with the app’s interactive event map
o Learn more about each of the eight all-new haunted houses and six horrifying scarezones as they get ready to experience them first-hand
o Get updates and exclusive details on Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights by connecting with the event’s official Facebook and Twitter pages
The app also offers a check-in game that challenges guests to explore each all-new haunted house at Halloween Horror Nights 21. If they survive each house, guests can “check in to win” a Universal CityWalk savings guide worth up to $50.

* Have a plan of attack. If you can, consider doing a RIP tour. These guides will plan your night so that not only will you see everything but you don't have to think! They are also full of information about the houses and the back stories with the scare zones and haunts. If you can't get a tour, then get an Express Pass. Nothing stinks more than spending all night in lines. The end. If you can't do either of those options, go early and on an off night like Wednesday, Thursday or Sunday.

My fabulous tour guide Lucas.

* Sad to say...don't go looking for the fried oreos or the chain saw guys. They're both missing from this year. :( At least the fried oreos were replaced with fried PB&J with bananas! I'm missing the chain saw guys more than the oreos.

On to the reviews:

Best effects house: Saws n' Steam. Universal took one of last years scares zones and gave it it's own house. Great choice! Very well done!

Prettiest House: Winter's NightOne of my favorites of the night. So Gothic and fantastic. Reminds me of my friend Sid's amazing cemetery prints.

House to have party in:
The Between: I just wanted to look forever. Fold your 3-D glasses at both hinges to keep them on better and enjoy! This house also wins runner up in the "House to avoid if you've been drinking".

House to avoid if you've been drinking: The Forsaken.
Ahoy and get on this doomed vessel but watch your land legs or you could be hittin' the deck! Another one of my favorites of the night.

A new way to look at the holidays: Holidays of HorrorDo you remember the old horror hosts? Well HR BloodeNGutz is here to help you ring in the holidays. Keep an eye on the TVs through out to tell you what holiday you'll be entering. You'll LOVE how Thanksgiving smells although I doubt you'll want to eat the bird.
