It appears a volunteer playing Santa at a community event called the "Jingle Jam Festival," tipped back a few after his shift and stayed around to entertain with his bowl full of boozy jelly. Major kudos go out to the organizers for having the professionalism and class to send these emails out themselves. These events are huge undertakings and while accidents like this do happen, you don't want them to prevent the event from ever happening again. Onward and upward, Downtown South!
A note from the Board of Directors of Downtown South:
It came to our attention after the Jingle Jam was over that the volunteer we had playing Santa Claus was drinking adult beverages at the event. This was
inappropriate and we apologize to all who attended that this occurred.
The Jingle Jam Festival was created by Downtown South to bring together local vendors, entertainers, and residents in a family friendly hoilday atmosphere to celebrate our thriving community. We are currently putting procedures in place to keep this from happening in the future. To those who were offended, we again apologize and hope to gain back your confidence.
We thank the residents and families who attended Jingle Jam this past weekend, the vendors who participated, the companies who sponsored the event and the many volunteers who worked tirelessly to give Downtown South a new holiday event.
