125 art & fine crafts and exhibits will all be showcased on Saturday & Sunday, February 18-19, 2012 during the Uptown Art Expo along Cranes Roost Boulevard, in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
The FREE ADMISSION Art & Music festival will feature artist displays of jewelry, glass, fine crafts, mosaics, paintings, photography, pottery and sculpture available forpurchase. The juried displays will be judged for cash prizes and ribbons.
Visitors can experience the awe in artwork being created before their eyes in the Chalk Street Painting Section as Cranes Roost Boulevard is turned into a “Canvas” with mesmerizing chalk masterpieces by experienced street painters.
The festival will also feature street performances by A Magi Tribal offering spellbinding dance acts which combine a variety of styles of traditional ethnic Middle Eastern Dance with gypsies, tribal and ritual dance with exciting sword and fire balancing.
Fun Children’s Zone will include face painting, sand art, and bounce house and rock wall climbing fun. The Orange County Regional History Center will also have a booth with free hands-on learning experience. There will be International street cuisine and good old- fashioned festival foods offered for hungry festival attendees.
Organizers expect the Expo to attract thousands of attendees to Cranes Roost Park. The Art Show will start at 10 p.m. and run till 6 p.m. each day with free concerts on the Eddie Rose Amphitheatre.
Live music Saturday offers the sounds of classic jazz and smooth jazz kicking off the festival is Lindy Romez & Sol Y Mar. Lindy’s original compositions were written with
her trumpet as the main voice, is a nice blend of Latin flavored contemporary jazz.
The UCF Jazz Ensemble #1, under the direction of Jeff Rupert. Their latest release Jazz Town charted on JazzWeek at # 42 for ten weeks and the ensemble has performed international concerts including the North Sea Jazz Festival, and the Montreux Jazz
Festival.
Headlining on Saturday is the Robert Harris Group. This year the group has had three national hits from their Miami Sun CD. “Moving Forward” charted for over 20 weeks in 2011. The second release “Miami Sun” achieved top 10 status on the national indie charts and top 20 on national top 50 charts. “Bliss” is currently on all three smooth jazz.com charts, and continues to climb the National Billboard charts.
On Sunday Headlining the Uptown Art Expo at 4pm is Classic Rock Legends: Larry Hoppen of Orleans & John Ford Coley.
Larry Hoppen is a co-founder and “The Voice” of the classic American band Orleans. Tens of millions know Larry's uplifting tenor from the hits “Still the One”, “Dance with Me”, “Love Takes Time” and “Let Their Be Music”.
John Ford Coley is most revered as half of the Grammy nominated duo England Dan and John Ford Coley. With double platinum and gold hits – “Love Is The Answer”, “I’d Really Like To See You Tonight”, “Nights Are Forever Without You”.
