The Art & History Museums – Maitland (A&H) proudly announces a stellar lineup of talented artist hosts for the upcoming fundraising event, Participation, Circus of the Surreal, held on Saturday, March 24, 5:30 PM, at the A&H’s Maitland Art Center, 231 W. Packwood Avenue, Maitland.
All proceeds from Participation: Circus of the Surreal, benefit art and history education at the A&H. Not your ordinary fundraising event, this year’s Participation is a wonderful and strange evening of ART, dining and diversions; an interactive and surreal experience that guests will be sure to enjoy. Participation guests will dine at uniquely themed tables created and hosted by our celebrated artists.
Our Artist Hosts are:
AHLIN, a Zen & Now watercolorist and acrylic abstract painter
Cheryl Bogdanowitsch, sculptor and reworked found object specialist
Matt Charlan, whose work is characterized by exploration, enlargement, replication, and manipulation
Richard Colvin, Curator of the A&H and classically-trained printmaker and painter
Cherie Dacko, who works with acrylics on board, in a style called “Bent Realism.”
Martha Lent, painter, sculptor, printmaker and mixed-media assembler
Martha Jo Mahoney, abstract painter and master of color and texture
Robert & Carla Poindexter, abstract painters extraordinaire; fusion of form and content
Rob Reedy, A&H Artist-in-Action; painter, potter, printmaker, musician and more
Dawn Schreiner, charming outsider art painter, decorator, and historian
Randall & Cheryl Smith: Randy is an artist/photographer; Cheryl is a sculptor/constructivist
Andrew Spear, whose work in pencils, with attitude and flavor, depicts popular culture
Trent Tomengo, A&H Artist-in-Action; fine oil painter using hyperrealism and symbolism
Camilo Velásquez, A&H Artist-in-Action; poet, scholar, mixed-media assemblage
In addition to an immersive artistic dining experience, guests will enjoy an array of performances designed to engage and enthrall, featuring performers from Empty Spaces Theatre Co(llaboration). John DiDonna serves as Entertainment Director.
Participation also includes a Silent Auction of Art created and donated by our esteemed artist table hosts. A Silent Auction Preview takes place in the A&H’s Maitland Art Center Galleries beginning on February 22 and continuing through March 23. Gallery Hours are Tuesday – Sunday, 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Admission is $3.00 for adults; $2.00 for Seniors (55 & older) and for Children (4-18 years). A & H Members and Children (3 & under) are free.
