FSYO Announces Auditions for 2012-2013 Season

As they close their 55th Concert Season, The Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra announces auditions for the 2012 – 2013 Concert Season. Praised as one of the top youth orchestras in the country, the FSYO seeks dedicated, talented young musicians from around Central Florida to join 1 of their 4 orchestras.

FSYO student membership will enjoy a rich educational experience during Sunday rehearsals, and varied concert experiences throughout the year; previous FSYO guest artists include famed violinist Nadja Solerno-Sonnenberg, who performed with the FSYO’s pre-professional Symphonic Orchestra in early 2011. The 55th Season offered students the opportunity to meet international recording artist, Josh Groban, and perform a Holiday Concert in collaboration with WKMG Local 6 at the Lake Eola Bandshell. In addition to professional-level concert experiences, the FSYO hosts an annual Concerto Competition, offers master classes, and provides students the opportunity to grow as musicians.

Ninety percent of FSYO alumni advance to college, many at some of the finest music schools in the country, including the Juilliard School of Music, Eastman School of Music, Oberlin Conservatory, and New England Conservatory. FSYO alumni serve as principals in nationally recognized orchestras including the New York Philharmonic and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Many perform in major U.S. orchestras including the Baltimore Symphony and Nashville Symphony Orchestra. FSYO alumni are also performing members of the Florida Orchestra, the Naples Philharmonic, and the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra.

Auditions are to be held in late May. Please visit www.fsyo.org/auditions.htm for more information.
