Things get started early at Enzian today. There's a free panel discussion at 11am, entitled "Perseverance: Women in the Industry," where speakers include the women involved with festival films 'Bert Stern: Original Madman' and 'Affair of the Heart'. For the rest of the day, Enzian is hosting three competitive narrative features, and a selection of animated shorts. I didn't much care for Adam Scott and Robin Tunney in 'See Girl Run' (review), which is playing at 1.15. After that, at 3.45, it's 'Kid-Thing', which I didn't see, but I've heard wildly differing opinions about. It sounds like everyone has a strong reaction to this film, so it may be worth your time. After the Animated Shorts at 6.30, there's the family reunion drama 'An Ordinary Family' at 9.30.
Meanwhile, over at the Regal WPV, foreign films and documentaries are the order of the day. One screen has a program of shorts called 'Can I Get A Witness?' at 4pm; the Florida premiere of Luc Besson's 'The Lady', about Aung San Suu Kyi and starting Michelle Yeoh and David Thewlis, at 7pm (expect that one to be super crowded); and Danish film 'Clown' at 9.45pm, which is described as 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' meets 'The Hangover', which is certainly promising. (Just in the last few days, 'Hangover' director Todd Phillips has been attached to a U.S. remake, with Danny McBride to star).

The other screen at the Regal will be playing three competition documentaries, starting with 'Bert Stern: Original Madman' at 3.30pm, and continuing with 'Not Yet Begun To Fight' at 6.30pm. 'Stern' is about the legendary photographer, while 'Not Yet' profiles Retired Marine Colonel Eric Hastings, who helps soldiers re-adapt to civilian life by fishing in the tranquil lakes of Montana, something he himself found very helpful after Vietnam. At 8.45, it's the second screening of 'Jobriath A.D.' (review), and as reader Jen informed us, tonight's the night that producer/svengali Jerry Brandt will be in the house for a Q&A, which should be interesting.
And last but not least, there's a free outdoor screening of 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail' at 8pm on the hill by Eden Bar. Nothing beats seeing that movie with a big crowd - see you there.
