Sanford Art Walk

The monthly Sanford Art Walk is June 22, 2012, 6 – 9pm in Historic Downtown SanfordFlorida. Visit downtown Sanford for a pedestrian friendly shopping corridor enhanced by live music venues and award winning restaurants, all just blocks from the scenic RiverWalk promenade along the St. Johns RiverThe fourth Friday of each month, multiple venues in the downtown historic district showcase local talent along with opportunities to meet visiting artists. This month’s Sanford Art Walk includes several artists who have a love affair with Mother Nature, including photographer David Stillings who dares to venture out with his camera and tripod in summer thunderstorms.

Participating venues are Art Affair Gallery, Framing 508 Gallery, Gallery on First, Historic Sanford Welcome Center, Hyder Gallery, Jeanine Taylor Folk Art, little fish HUGE pond, and the Sanford Flower Shop. All venues are within walking distance of one another and will be open late for patrons to stroll the downtown district and enjoy art and refreshments.

What to expect:

Art Affair Gallery, at 301 East First Street, hosts “Taking Paint to the Next Dimension” a solo show of new works by Tom Abbott. Meet the artist from 6 to 8 pm in the Studio Gallery. For more information contact the gallery at 407.878.2855 or visit our website at ArtAffairGallery.com.

Gallery on First, at 211 E. 1st St., will feature the work of nine studio artists in their annual show of new work, “Hot Summer Nights.” Tropical landscapes, mysterious abstracts, steel sculptures, and vivid nature scenes of Florida will fill the main gallery. For more information, call 407-323-2774 or visit galleryonfirst.com.

Historic Sanford Welcome Center, at 230 E. 1st St., is proud to host Central Florida’s only monthly juried art show with both a “Best in Show” award chosen by a panel of judges and a “People’s Choice” award chosen by the attendees of the show. Hyder Gallery Center for Fine Art, at 104 E. 1st Street, will feature the works of Delores Haberkorn with her highly technical interpretive ability. Jeanine Taylor Folk Art, at 211 E. 1st St., will feature the collaborative fabric creations of Midge Baudouin and Allison Stilwell. Their work often begins with original screen-printed fabric and is then embellished with direct painting, typography and hand stitching. little fish HUGE pond, at 309 E. 1st St., welcomes a solo exhibit by artist Carissa Paige. Carissa’s art opens your mind to a world of light colors and a calming whimsy. Sanford Flower Shop, at 209 E. Commercial St., will be featuring the stunning photography of David Stillings, also known as the Lightning Stalker.
