February 15 - 17, 2013

1st Thursdays Orlando's original art event is the award-winning 1st Thursday presented by the Associates, an OMA volunteer support group committed to expanding OMA membership and encouraging appreciation of the visual arts. Admission to 1st Thursdays is free for OMA members and $10 for non-members. The following is the 2012-13 schedule of themes.

Meow August 2, 2012 A contemporary art show about cats, cats and more cats!

Eclectic Knights IV September 6, 2012 (Open only to UCF Alumni and Faculty) This UCF Visual Arts and Design Alumni Chapter annual event will feature selected works created by UCF Alumni and Faculty in a variety of media.

The Art of Social Commentary October 4, 2012 The harder the times, the sharper the wit, Since before Plato, artists have been rebelling against injustice by informing people though visual and performing arts to promote change. This show explores the many facets of social commentary through the eyes of today's artists.

Dia de los Muertos November 1, 2012 Artists explore ancient cultures and traditions in this colorful and festive event inspired by the unique Latin American holiday Day of the Dead. Though this show is mainly focused on the Mexican celebration, similar celebrations can be found in many other cultures and religions around the globe, and all customs are welcome to be acknowledged.

Art Under $200 - 'Tis the Season December 6, 2012 Ignite a frenzy by creating an original work of art-priced under $200. This show is the perfect event for artists wanting to connect with art enthusiasts, collectors and gift givers of every sort.

Classical Glass January 3, 2013 Murano, being that which is glass. That Italian influence is what we're looking for. Give us your blown glassware, Renaissance-style stained glass. Fusers weren't around then, but that discipline leaves many options for expression.

Impressions: The Printmaker's Art February 7, 2013 The timeless method of printmaking has been used for centuries to make high quality art at affordable prices. Artists are asked to create their "impressions" using silkscreen, engraving, etching, and other printmaking techniques, but no photo, digital or gicleĆ© prints.

The Art of Women March 7, 2013 In celebration of Women's History Month, artists' works should spotlight women and capture their strength, individuality, beauty, love, voice, grace, boldness and all that women are!

For the Birds April 4, 2013 A visual celebration of our fine-feathered friends.

Boiler Plate Ball: Steampunk Steps Out May 2, 2013 Steampunk uses a Victorian setting with futuristic technology toe give us science fiction or an alternative history. Artists are to provide an alternative view to their work whether it is steampunk, diesselpunk or clockpunk-show your insight, wit and humor.
