We told you in 2008 that Orlando needed PechaKucha and now, thanks to organizer eddie Selover, its going strong. The next PechaKucha Night Orlando is Friday, October 26, 2012, at 7pm at The Orange Studio, 1121 N. Mills Ave., Orlando, FL 32803. Admission is ten bucks. Cash bar with beer and wine. Mingling is at 7pm, presentations start at 7:45pm.
PechaKucha Night was devised in Tokyo, as a chance for creative people to meet, network, and share their work. Since its debut in 2003, it has turned into a massive celebration, with events in hundreds of cities around the world and audiences in the thousands. We first began hosting Orlando PechaKucha Nights in October 2010, quickly gaining an enthusiastic following and positive media attention.
Its an entertainment event held several times a year with an hour of mingling and socializing, an hour of PowerPoint presentations on a variety of topics led by some of the most interesting people in the city, then another hour or so of mingling.
Drawing its name from the Japanese term for "chitchat," PechaKucha rests on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds. It's a format that makes the presentations concise and keeps things moving at a rapid pace. Speakers present their PechaKuchas on any subject, from the personal to the public.
