UpStanders Family Fun Day at Lake Eola Announces Entertainment

The Holocaust Center has announced the entertainers confirmed for its Second Annual UpStanders Family Fun Day at Lake Eola on Sunday October 14, 2012, noon to 3pm.  The event will feature music by The Rep’s Power Chords, Hagerty High School’s Jazz Band, Orlando Circle of Friends, Central Florida Community Arts Choir and Winter Springs High School Bear Voices. Local magician/entertainer Tony Brent will be on hand in the character of Pip Squeak, using comedy, magic tricks, juggling and costumes to humorously teach children how to cope with being bullied.

Being an Upstander means you’re willing to stand up and take action in defense of others. It identifies people who take steps — large or small — to defend the rights and safety of everyone in their community. The Holocaust Center is asking local students (and adults, too!) to take the pledge:
  1. I will STAND UP to bullying
  2. I won’t be a bully
  3. I won’t let anyone bully me
  4. I won’t let anyone bully someone else
  5. I have a responsibility to STOP BULLYING in my school and in my community

Here’s an Upstander Day Poster for you to print and distribute.

A variety of children’s activities will be offered throughout the day, including Stupendous Stu’s balloons, face painting, and crafts. Information tables will be staffed all afternoon, with information and materials on local programs that support safe, healthy families.
