Where is the "Support Local Media" Movement?

Yay for the support of local businesses. Show them the love. But do you ever think about media and ask if the media you think is local is actually local? A lot of what you may consider "local" media outlets are actually franchises that locate themselves in cities hiring locals to do the ground work, or they are franchises ironically based on local, bought by locals, but are actually just templates the buyer of the franchise fills in. Their product, like Arbys and any franchise one buys into, is not local. And what about these national review websites that co-opt "local" as their mantra, go into cities across the US, and do things on a scale local indie media could never do? Meanwhile, people right here in your city are starting from scratch, from the ground up, with no giant national headquarters sending them branded swag or templates or advertising manuals. So what about a "support local media" movement?
