While in Miami we got to see some of the Pop Up Pianos . Each piano was crafted by one of eight artists.
During Art Basel week spectators had access to the pianos between three free scheduled “pop-up” performances by world class musicians. At some of the charities that will receive PUPM will work to expand and implement specially designed music programs and workshops.
This week the pianos will be moved to their permanent charity locations, some of which PUPM is working to expand and implement specially designed music programs and workshops.
The locations are as follows;
- Overtown Music Project: Desiree Kawass piano (the one pictured here!)
- Arthur & Polly Mays Conservatory of the Arts: Ivan Roque piano
- Lotus House: Miguel Paredes piano
- South Florida Autism Charter School: Eric Estrada piano
- Touching Miami with Love: Ruben Ubiera piano
- Miami Music Project: Rodrigo Gaya piano
- North Miami Middle School : Federico Carosio III piano
The pianos added a special touch to Miami's Art Week and will add an even more special touch to the charities where they were donated.
The Pop Up concept has been tried here in Orlando as well with the day long Walk On By art event this past September and the Seminole County Pop Up Piano event this past April.
