By Ken Storey
Excited about the new bowling alley coming to Downtown Disney next week? Splitsville Luxury Lanes opens on December 19th becoming the worlds largest Splitsville. The new new entertainment center takes over the former Virgin Megastore within the West Side section of Downtown Disney. The bowling alley will feature a full restaurant, live DJs, and possibly dancing, though this aspect of the initial concept now seems to be debated within the Disney blog circles
.
Also on the blog circles there seems to be some discussion on what retail the new bowling center building will have with both Ridemakerz and Curl by Sammy Duval in the lead of the discussions. If Curl does move it could be confirmation of an earlier rumor that Save Pleasure Island posted about a new Food Network restaurant concept moving into the former 8Trax space that connects to the current home of Curl.
The Disney Parks Blog did point out that the bowling alley will have age restrictions on certain evenings, "Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, the second floor will be reserved for guests ages 21+ who arrive after 10:30 p.m."
In other Downtown Disney news the free WiFi that has been rolled out in the theme parks over the past few months has now made it's way to Downtown Disney. Starting this week the entire entertainment district will offer free WiFi.
"Guests with any wireless-enabled devices can now connect to the complimentary network by locating the network (Disney – Guest), selecting the network to connect and accepting the terms and conditions. Once connected, Guests will automatically connect to the network in locations where the Disney Wi-Fi is available."
