Universal Studio's IOA Wizarding World of Harry Potter Sells 5 Millionth Butterbeer

By Ken Storey

With all the success that has surrounded Universal's Wizarding World of Harry Potter it comes as no surprise that millions of butterbeers have been sold.  Butterbeer is the specialty drink found only within the Wizarding World with unique butterscotch and shortbread flavor, though the actual recipe is a closely held secret.  The drink is popular with the characters in the books and films and became an instant hit when the new land opened.

Recently the resort celebrated it's 5 millionth Butterbeer with free butterbeers for 1,000 guests.

“We created an authentic taste experience for our guests to complement all of the other immersive experiences The Wizarding World of Harry Potter would offer them.  We knew we had created something that tasted great and would be popular – but we have been surprised by just how popular,” said Ric Florell, senior vice president of resort revenue operations, who oversaw Butterbeers creation.
