While construction has been
going on for a few months already Universal has been pretty tight lipped about
details surrounding their new resort, the fourth hotel for the Orlando
property. On Tuesday, February 26, 2013 they finally released some information regarding the resort.
The hotel will offer 1,800
rooms spread out over two themed areas broken into a North and a South
courtyard. The two sections will each
feature a unique take on the 1950’s and 60’s theme of the hotel and each will
feature their own pool area. The resort
will offer two suite options- a value-priced standard room and a moderately
priced family suite that sleeps 6. The
suites are a stunning 430sq ft (that almost the size of my apartment and bigger
than almost any of those IKEA houses).
"We believe Universal's
Cabana Bay Beach Resort will offer an experience unlike any other in Central
Florida," said Alice Norsworthy, executive vice president of marketing and
sales at Universal Orlando Resort. "And at the same time, it will create
an entirely new, value-driven option for families that want to stay within the
Universal Orlando Resort."
The North Courtyard pool area
will feature a 100ft long waterslide and an iconic dive tower water feature surrounding
its 10,000sq ft pool and 4,000sq ft interactive water play area. While the South Courtyard pool area will
have its own 700ft long lazy river, a first for any Universal Orlando resort,
which links to an 8,000sq ft pool. Both pools
will feature sandy beaches, pool side bar areas, and zero-entry swimming pools. Other amenities at the resort include its own
10-lane bowling alley, a fitness center, a game room, and (of course) a
Universal Orlando gift shop. The hotel
also promises plenty of bold retro design and neon lights.
The North Courtyard will open
on March 31, 2014. It features 600
family suites inspired by the sweeping motor courts of the mid-twentieth
century. The suites will sleep six and
feature kitchenettes. The North
Courtyard will be spread across numerous four-story buildings with open
corridors and direct access to guest rooms.
