Think You Can Do It Better Than Disney? Now You Can Prove It!

By Ken Storey

If you sit in almost any bar in Orlando long enough you’re sure to hear someone talking about Team Disney Orlando and how the local theme parks just don’t do it correctly. Well the chance has finally arrived for all of these couch potatoes designers prove what they’re made of. USA Network has announced a new reality show hosted by NFL Quarterback Kurt Warner where people are “given a second chance at their first dream.” The list includes many different first dreams including;
  • Professional Bull Rider
  • Hollywood Stunt Person
  • Polo Player
  • Auctioneer
  • Fashion Photographer
  • Sportscaster
  • Rock Band Musician
  • NFL Referee
  • Dolphin Trainer
But the one that is most interesting for those of us here in Orlando, well the Bull Rider one might be good to cast in Osceola County and Dolphin Trainer could easily include SeaWorld but the big one for us is that of theme park designer.

Hochberg Erbersol Company, the producers, are looking for someone who has the proper skill set to succeed in each of the fields so for theme park designer that may include engineering or architecture but the main thing the show is looking for is someone who has been derailed from their dream job due to some type life circumstance. Each contestant will then be given 10 days with a mentor in their chosen field who will coach the constant before an interview with a company in their respected fields. If the interview goes good well then the constant will be offered a job, and a door, back into that field they always dreamed of going into.

So if you think you’ve or someone you know has got what it takes to make it in the theme park design industry then send an email (castingthemoment@gmail.com) to HEC and let them know. The email needs to include why you think that you or the person you’re nominating has got what it takes and what caused the derailment from the dream. Also make sure to include:
  • Your Name
  • (If Applicable) Name of the person you are nominating and relationship to you
  • Your Phone Number
  • Your Email Address
  • The City and State You Live In and, if applicable, the person you’re nominating lives in
All constants must be at least 21 years old also.

The show premiers on USA Network on Thursday, April 11 at 10p. The show does have a sneak preview episode online now though.
